ಮಳೆಹನಿ ಬಿದ್ದಾಗ,

ರೋಮಾಂಚನವು ನಿಶ್ಯಬ್ಧವ ನುಂಗಿತ್ತು

ಊರಿನ ತೇರು ಎಳೆದಾಗ,

Rivers are born in Heavens... So is our ಕಾveರಿ

Many of us Kannadigas, don't know how lucky we are to have one of the most sacred rivers of India, the Cauvery. This motherly river that quenches the thirst of the whole South India, is born just a few meters within the Karnataka border dividing Kerala, in Talakaveri.

It is also believed that it is the most peaceful flowing major river of India, with the facts that, not much damage has been by floods every year as the other rivers do. 4 major dams have been built across it, along its journey to the sea.

The river is a home to many kinds of amphibians, reptiles and mammals....not the lesser, a life to Farmers. Rice, Sugarcane, Jowar, Vegetables, Mango, Coffee, Ragi, tobacco....and what not. Its so disappointing that the river is a silent one, but not the people at its basins. Since the British left India, one fights another for its share.

The journey of Kaveri takes that of a human life... a blink of an infant at Talakaveri, a crying baby at Bhagamandala, a sweet naughty child at Shivanasamudra, a grown up girl at the KRS and Srirangapatna, and a mature woman from Hogenekal and Mettur, and a traditional lady at Thanjavur and finally joins the Bay of bengal fulfilling all the responsibilities....!!!

The priesthood of Talakaveri has a different story. The ancestors of the priests, called Shivalli Brahmins, were brought from Varanasi 1400 years ago by Raja Mayuravarma, to perform rituals in all religious places in and around the region. 6 to 7 centuries later the great saints Madhwacharya, Raghavendra Swamy and Vadiraja were born of this sect of migrated people.

Being a Software Engineer doesn't mean being a Machine...

This might be my shortest blog....

By this time, all my frnds would have become Software Professionals and begun their (de-)bugging and (re-)building the 0's and 1's..! Building stuff might earn bread and butter, but not anything else. People might argue that we would learn a lot........FOR WHAT???

We would learn something that is outdated for our children and grandchildren. Spreading knowledge among our friends is fine, but the learnt Information is Confidential as per our companies. The final reason for learning would be Self-Satisfaction..... which might completely disappear if the companies started paying lesser. Then what..... we are just the machines that work as per the instructions.

Friends, we are capable to do any job that suffices our needs. But we should also be capable of remainng humans and understand what an algorithm cannot answer. Remember that we still follow our ancesterial policy of 'Work for making a livelihood'......'Passion always is a second option'.... Remember that you are being trusted by many lives of your life.

Please post ur arguments as comments....!!! I think I have to face so many contardictory opinions.

Out of the Box - Karnataka Temple pics Apart from those shown in TV, Newspapers,Travel Books

Karnataka is the home for some splendid temple architecture void of doubt. The carvings are irreversible and just unimaginable. Most of the pictures shown in TV-channels, magazines, newspapers and text-books include only the most popular pics from these marvellous structures. A complete exploration of these can reveal much more splendidness and can put any human to anxeity.

Here are a few pics from specific places which are rarely photograhed.

1.Hampi: Most of the photos of Hampi include the stone chariot and only a few angles of the temple and the Royal Horse Castle. Look at these apart from the above mentioned ones.






2.Somnathpura: Located in Mysore district, this temple is the height of stone carving and architecture. Most of its photos have the front view of the temple, but a closer view provides details about the minutest carvings.

3.Pattadakallu: This place is one of the World Heritage Sites recognized by the UNESCO. Again splendid rock carvings tells it all.


4. Aihole: This place is also near Pattadakal and is known for rock carvings.




5. Badami Cave temples: If the word 'spectrum' is born, then it should be born from this place, The rock sculptures and the picturesque surroundings has given the actual colours to this place. This is also a world helitage Center built by the Chalukyas. Rarely photographed for public purposes, dont know why??

6. Talakad Ruins: The Architecture of Talakad temple is really splendid but never appreciated. Even i din get pics anywhere for my requirements. There are wonderful stories behind each and every carving in the temple.

Along with this temple there is another one that was once a huge temple of Lord Vishnu, that had ruptured recently along with its Gopuram and Vimanam. Its stones have been preserved for reconstruction.
